Train your brain without taxing your wallet

Training your brain does not need to be very expensive, unless you decide to get help from a professional counselor. However, you can train your brain by yourself, using some tried and tested techniques. Most of these are free, while others cost only a nominal amount. Here are a few of those:

Crossword puzzles: These are published on most major newspapers, and remain one of the best ways of exercising your vocabulary. Try to solve these as fast as possible; the faster you can, the greater will be the benefit you gain from these.

Number puzzles: Books about these can be collected at nominal prices, and are great for giving your math skills are refresher. You can also try Sudoku or magic square puzzles as an alternative.

Picture puzzle books: These can be purchased at an affordable price tag, and provide hours of entertainment, while training your cognitive reasoning skills. Besides, these also improve your visual acuity.

Brain training need not burn a hole in your wallet. You do not need to spend $ 100 or so per session to a counselor. All you have to do is look for affordable alternatives.
